Australian Fabric Designer and Author:Â Jen Kingwell
At our November Day Meeting, guest speaker and Pop-Up Shop, Jen Kingwell from Amitie Textiles, showed us her very colourful collection of scrap quilts. She took us through the timeframe for preparing and publishing her patterns as she entered the International Quilt Market. Jen also shared the quilts that were specifically made for her Quiltmania book ‘Quilt Lovely’. Her fabric range - or ‘collection’ as the American’s call it, was very popular with members. Jen talked about her love of ‘grey’ coloured fabrics and how she uses them in her patterns. Thanks Jen for your inspiring talk, we loved your quilts.
Unfortunately I was unable to make the November day meeting .What I can see of Jen Kingwell’s quilts is very interesting. It is such a shame that there is no way to enlarge them to see more detail. I obviously missed a good day.
It was a good day and the quilts were indeed lovely to see. Jen was very generous with allowing them to be examined up close and handled. No quilt police were around! To see more detail in the photos, there are two options. One is to click on the photo which opens a larger single view that has more information such as the name of the quilt. The second is to then use the zoom function of your browser. As everyone uses different browsers, the best way is to have a hunt through the menus to find the zoom tool.
Thanks Joan for your comment. I hope this reply is public so it will help others with getting up close and personal with the quilts!
Hi Robyn,
I did use the click on the picture to increase the image size but the image is then only about a sixth the size of my screen. As for finding the tool in my browser I don’t know how to do that and I don’t have someone at my elbow to tell me how. As I use the computer a fair bit, and I don’t know how to find the tool , how is anyone who doesn’t use a computer going to find it?
EQI is about everyone who is a member, not just those who use computers. We should be INclusive not EXclusive.
By the way, the November Connecting Thread has not been added to the web site.
I would like to comment on this one.
As I have said at the last few meetings. We do not have a Newsletter Editor, so no Connecting Thread issues.
Robyn was very generous in November, as on top of her other Committee responsibilities she developed a “News-sheet” that was available to members with no e-mail address or website availability. This “News-sheet could be picked up at both November meetings. It was mailed out to members not able to attend.
