QFO’s and ‘Old Sayings’? …

Lorraine C

Received a cute photo of great-nephews with their quilts. Joshua said in his video “stop crying, stop crying” and “mine’s bigger!!!!” Lovely to get photos of the kids with their quilts. Thanks also to Australia post, 1 week to get to Canberra!

Baby quilt, QFO. Don’t remember where it came from but finished ready to go.

From the  Barwon Park booklet on “Origins of old sayings and customs”,
- When you say “bless you” when someone sneezes, it dates from the time of the great plague, when a sneeze could indicate infection and you were calling on God to protect that person”. Here we are again!
- Another one I fancy. Golf, of course, came from Scotland, where it was originally a game for men only. The name is derived from ‘Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden’.

Next week, “fancy work” as my mum would say. A large pillowcase QFO with castles, fairies, mushrooms, frogs with crowns, flags, etc for my great-niece for her birthday on 14th September. Hopefully shut down over on 13th.

Keep safe
