Greetings to all members of EQI! …

by EQI President: Kerry R.

Hi! Everyone, and welcome to the October edition of President’s Chatter.

Well, the 2022 AGM is over and Essendon Quilter’s Inc. has a brand new committee.

I would like to thank Glenda, Anita and Robyn for joining/rejoining the committee.

We still need a Vice-President and there are five vacancies on the general committee that I would love to fill. Please take time to think about joining us.

The committee is the place where you can discuss, plan, suggest ideas and help our group grow together.

Also, there are still gaps to fill on the Valued Volunteers list. Including Library Co-ordinator, Banners, Challenges etc. Alexandra Denny has offered to be Treasurer’s Assistant, Heather Bonney will continue co-ordinating our ‘QFO” program, Denise Colquhoun is taking charge of hospitality, while Maria Byrne ably welcomes new members and Pat Stevenson is the “Show and tell” V.V.

Robyn Roberts is busy with Instagram, cataloguing the library and looking after our website. Our thanks to all of you.

The Castlemaine 2022 Retreat is fast approaching and I am so looking forward to four days of stitching, relaxing, eating, the odd glass of wine, a bit of shopping and the fellowship of other members. It seems such a long time between Retreats!

It is a smaller than usual group this year, but I did expect that as it’s the first year out of Covid and everyone is very busy catching up with travel, family and re-scheduled activities.

If you are reading this and, maybe would still like to join us in Castlemaine this year there are still rooms available at the Castle Motel!

The raffle tickets for our “Glitter” quilt have been printed and will be distributed at the October, Wednesday, Day Gathering. It was decided to donate the proceeds of this raffle to Heart Research. Tickets are $2 each, books of 10. Due back by our Christmas meeting in December.

The “Glitter” quilt has been valued at $1100 and is our first major raffle since our return to meeting as a group.

2022-2023 will see some changes at Essendon Quilters Inc. Positive ones that will see EQI grow and flourish into the future.

Stay tuned for future adventures as we Recover, Recharge, Regroup and Rebuild!
