Greetings to all members of EQI! …

by EQI President: Nadine B.

Hi all,

It is September, spring is upon us, magpies are swooping and the Melbourne Show will be on after a two-year break. September also marks the time when we hold our next AGM. We are finally catching up after Covid interruptions.

I wish to inform members that this will be my last President’s Piece as I will not be renominating at our AGM. I would like to thank members for being patient with me as I continued to learn how to use the microphone and run a meeting.

Thanks to Committee members who each brought different skill sets and perspectives to meetings.

Thank you to Barb who has been our Vice President and has been incredibly supportive. She has stepped in for me when I was unable to be at a meeting and doing the minutes if the Secretary was unavailable.  She has persisted in working with Moonee Valley Council to help us to display our Paint Chip Challenge quilts at a local library in 2023.

Denise has served the group tirelessly as Treasurer for a number of years now. Denise works incredibly hard, providing meticulous reports each month and taking on responsibility for tasks that are not necessarily part of the Treasurer’s role so that the group can operate successfully. All the organization that she has done will make any future Treasurer’s job much easier.

Thank you to Pinky in her role of Secretary, who has always promptly got on with contacting the Masons, taking minutes and sharing her generosity and kindness.

Lorraine has performed so many roles, most recently as Committee Member and as a coordinator of the QFO program, together with Heather. She is unfailingly enthusiastic and generous with her time.

Thank you to Robyn, who does an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to ensure we get our eNews on time and maintaining the web page and Instagram.  She also needs to be thanked for her organization of the Paint Chip Challenge, no easy task during Lockdown, and for her organization of the Skill Sharing Sessions.

Kerry has put a lot of work into contacting Guest Speakers who have made our meetings really interesting and is to be thanked for all the work involved in organizing this. She also runs the Retreat in Castlemaine and ensures that all involved are kept abreast of the event.

In order to continue as a group, we need members to nominate for Committee. Nomination forms are available online and in paper form at the meeting. Please do consider nominating.

The activities that have been planned for the rest of the year, should continue to make our meetings interesting and stimulating. In September, Anita will be providing those who wish to participate an opportunity to unleash their creativity. Santina will launch our QFO challenge, it is a fun way to help us to create blocks that we can use for our well-appreciated program. We have 2 more guest speakers scheduled this year, Maureen Mackie In October and Janet O’Dell in November.

The Retreat in Castlemaine is not far off either. More information will come your way from Kerry.

I will end by wishing the new Committee the very best for the future.

Regards, Nadine Bond
