President’s Piece …..

Hello to everyone
In a way, I feel I’m writing this two days too early as Daniel Andrews will surely ease more restrictions on Sunday. Seven days in a row of zero cases and zero deaths means we must be on track for more freedom. I have to commend the Premier for standing up each day for over 100 days and bringing us the latest data and for answering all those endless repeats of questions from the media with such patience.

How would you like to have a picnic in the park?
Last week one of the craft groups that I belong to did just that and it was so good.
Here’s what I am proposing. We meet in Woodlands Park, near Coles, near the Essendon-  Keilor Road roundabout from 11 to 1 p.m. on what would be our normal day meeting, that is the 18th of November.
It would be a byo picnic. Bring your own chair/rug, food and drink, mask, hand sanitiser and any stitching/ knitting etc. There are two rotundas there with seating and tables. There’s also a very good cafe nearby if you wish to buy lunch.
If the day is too hot or too cold or too wet we would cancel. If you don’t feel well don’t come .I recognise that for some people meeting in a group may not be a comfortable situation but we can socially distance there quite easily. We also need to record names and phone numbers just in case. Love to see you there.

We received an email from a bush fire victim who had been given one of our quilts through the Bairnsdale Salvation Army. This woman and her family had lost everything and she was delighted to receive the quilt and I was delighted to get such positive feedback.

I spoke with David from the Masonic Lodge who says the Lodge is following Government guidelines in regard to opening the Hall for hire again. We could probably hold our AGM there in March.
Robyn has organised a survey to find out what members are thinking in regard to resuming our meetings and I know you will give it due consideration. I will contact members who don’t have internet connections so they don’t miss out.
Meanwhile, stay safe. We will wait for the news on Sunday and hope by then we can get some finality from the USA as well!

Finally, do you know what a fabricologist is? Two meanings: one who has perfected the art of stashing fabric, or an expert accumulator of cloth intended for future use.
Kindest regards,

Heather
