Essendon Quilters Inc Quilt In 2019:   Bits and Pieces Challenge

 

Take your bits and pieces

Using fabric that’s small,

Make a mini or a project for show

It may be useful or just for the wall

Make it fast, or make it slow

Using any technique at all

Stitch by hand or machine

Embellishments will make it shine

Decorative stitches are more than fine

And enter our “Bits and Pieces” show,

 

Our 2019 challenge is to take those bits and pieces of fabric that all quilters possess and make either a mini quilt or a three-dimensional work or collection (of works).

You may enter work in both categories.

In making your work or works you may use any quilting technique and use any form of decorative stitching or embellishment. It can be stitched by hand or machine. If you use or vary a commercial pattern you will acknowledge the copyright owner.

Size requirements

Mini quilt – The mini quilt must be 20 inches by 20 inches or the perimeter of the work is equal to 80 inches.

Three-dimensional works – Your work or collection (of works) must fit into an enclosed square box that is 5.5 by 5.5 by 8.5 inches deep.

Viewer’sChoice

There will be a Viewer’s choice award for each category. Quilt in attendees will have a single vote for each category. In the event of a tie, the winner will then be drawn randomly.

EntryCost

You can enter one or more works or collection of works for the small amount of $5.00.

Return of Entries

Entries will be available for collection at the completion of the Quilt In.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

Can my mini quilt have 3-dimensional elements? Yes, you can use fabric manipulation or folded piecing techniques or similar attachments.

Why do I indicate design source? Essendon Quilters may use images of your work on our website or Facebook or Instagram pages. This allows us to comply with copyright laws.

Do I have to have my work in any future Essendon Quilters activities? No. We understand that your work or works may be a gift. If you say yes on the entry form, we will contact you if there is an opportunity using the details you provide. You can make up your mind to participate knowing what the opportunity is.
