Show and Tell – Drunkards Path and other curves.

Participants in the EQI workshop with Pat Stevenson have been very busy since the end of April. We have had the opportunity either at the May Day and Night meetings to view the curves they have mastered.

Lorraine has made a glorious quilt for a baby. She indicated that she had to do a little unpicking on her Drunkards Path border only because one of the blocks was facing the wrong way. The unpicking is probably the only reason that it hadn’t been quilted given Lorraine’s penchant for getting things finished. Jane’s colour choices are stunning and although she thought she might need to cut some more blocks after the workshop, she came up with a great layout with blocks cut at the workshop.  Jane, of course, had started to Quilt within 2 and half weeks. What an over achiever! Whilst Jane used the workshop as an excuse to purchase more fabric, Denise’s scrappy look came from her stash with most of the 55 fabrics being purchased at Threadbear, Castlemaine. She also became a bit obsessed by the numbers – 112 blocks in total with 68 of the smalls.

Another stash effort came from Julie. She used the last of lots of fabric of her favourite colours. Julie confided that even though her fabric choice constrained the layout options for her table runner, there were days of fiddling until she went with the first option (cameras are handy quilting tools). Jenny used a stunning choice of two fabrics to create a child’s quilt and agrees that the second half of the curve is always a bit trickier to stitch than the first. She intends to quilt her top and then donate to EQI’s Quilts for Others.

Show and Tell, May 2018 certainly confirms that Pat has helped more people to master the curve! Members Plus Workshop: Drunkard’s Path
