Greetings to all members of EQI! …

by EQI President: Kerry R.

Welcome to the February 2023 edition of President’s Chatter.

……

It has only been a short space of time since my last “Chatter” so…

February will be a short chat!

EQI’s first activity of 2023 was held on Saturday, 28th January. “Saturday Stitching”, and we welcomed 20 members and guests to the Freemason’s Hall for a great day of chatting (lots of friends catching up), stitching (both machine and hand!), and some nice eating (with thanks to Glenda for providing a fruitcake, made from a recipe; “An Amish Christmas Cake”, provided to members on their news-sheet way back in the 1990s).

“Saturday Stitching” days will be held on the 4th Saturday of every month for those who are hand sewers and machine sewers. Members and guests are welcome. Some activities will be provided, the library will be open, and the Trading table will also be available.

Our first Gathering is on Wednesday, 15th of February and we welcome back members and guests to a new year of fellowship, friendship, activities, community and stitching (not necessarily in that order!…lol!)

The “Take a Chance Block” and “The Mystery Quilt Tour” friendship activities will be launched, along with another 2 small projects – so get ready for a stitching year ahead!

Just a reminder that the EFTPOS machine will be available at every Gathering and “Saturday Stitching” day for the benefit of members and guests.

In addition, “Shoofly”, EQI’s next major raffle quilt will also be launched. Block instructions, (both hand and machine) and suggested fabrics will be provided. It is a project that every member can contribute to. A “mini-workshop” on assembling the Shoofly block will also be held in the main hall.

Our Community Quilting day (previously known as “QFO Day”) will take place on Wednesday, February 22nd from 10 am to 2 pm for those members interested in providing requested items from groups in our community. We will be concentrating on re-organizing the boxes of fabrics and equipment held in the EQI storage room and beginning a project for our own Quilt-In to be held in August this year. Santina will also be showing how to join the ‘Strips & Colours’ QAYG blocks that were our last group challenge.

Well, that’s it for this month!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, 15th Feb!
