We’re Back! …..

Now that Covid-19 restrictions are eased we are able to meet in the Hall again for the usual February general meeting. The committee has met and discussed at length the safe way we can do this.

  • The meeting will take place from 10.30am till 12.30.
  • There will be a gold coin (preferably the smaller in size one!) instead of the usual $5 admission.
  • You will need to sign in with your phone number as well as your name.
  • Surfaces such as the bench and in the bathroom will be wiped down.
  • We will have no tables as our tape measure confirms that, with social distancing of staying apart by 1.5 metres, we could have only two women per table. So instead we will have chairs in rows for the formal part of the meeting. These can then be grouped more suitably for the remainder of the time.
  • You will need to bring your own everything: mug, food, drink, hand sewing, mask, hand sanitiser if you wish. We will supply only hot water.
  • Library services will not be available.
  • If you are not feeling well, please stay at home.

These decisions to be as COVID safe as possible have been made in the best interests of all members.

We are not proceeding with our Saturday meetings e.g. Finish it up in February, at this point. The Paint Chip Challenge will go ahead as per the 2020 timeline.

We will hold the belated Annual General Meeting in March (and another one in October). All positions on the committee will be declared vacant, so we will have committee nomination forms available at February’s meeting. I hope we can get lots of nominations. The more committee members we can get, the smaller the workload for each. Subscriptions are not due until October 1st 2021.

At the February meeting there will be fabric for sale by the metre for cash only.

At the March meeting Kerrie Thomas will bring a ‘shop’ and examples of her long arm quilting.

During this last very trying year our wonderful quilters donated 169 quilts to various charities. Our QFO days will go ahead, starting on February 24th but there won’t be any of those delicious shared lunches we so enjoyed.

I had wanted to  make this newsletter warm and inclusive but I fear it has just become a long list of facts. John LeCarre, the famous writer has said “ Writing is like walking in a deserted street. Out of the dust in the street you make a mud pie”. I’m not sure my mud pie is exactly the way I wanted it to be. However I hope we can all get together again and enjoy each other’s company later this month and that this February meeting is the first of many we will have this year.

May your bobbins always be full.
Heather
