Hello, fellow quilters, and welcome to our November Newsletter.
Firstly, thank you all so much for re-electing me as President of our club for the next twelve months. I am honoured and grateful for the opportunity. Also, I would like to thank all the Committee members and Valued Volunteers for their hard work, dedication and commitment to our club. I am grateful to be part of such a wonderful team and look forward to everything we will accomplish together in the coming year.
At our last day meeting, Ruth Nunn, the secretary of The Lions Club of Quilters Victoria, was our guest speaker. The Lions Club of Quilters Victoria started in 2014, is a special Lions club focused on preserving Australia’s unique quilting history and honouring our quilt makers and artists, along with their stories. We presented Ruth with the woollen quilt made by Elizabeth Perry, it will now be part of the collection at the LCQV. She gave a lovely talk about how they formed the group and shared their hope to one day have a permanent space to display the quilts. Ruth also brought along some quilts made by local quilters for us to admire.
Thank you Ruth!
I received a request about our next bus trip (to various quilt shops), and I think early next year would be a great time to plan it. I need someone to handle the bookings and other arrangements. If you’re interested, please let me know. I have been on a few of these trips and found them to be very enjoyable, a fun day to
spend time with friends and meet new people.
I would like to thank Kerrie Thomas from Black Forest Quilting for the outstanding work she has done on some of our charity quilts. If you have a quilt and would like it professionally quilted, you can reach her on 03 54261217.
