Rainbow Jelly Roll …

It’s great when you spot a pattern on social media and you just know that it’s the thing for that Special Treasure All Secretly Hidden. The pattern was a Ruby Society/ Moda quilt along showcasing their latest ‘rainbow Jelly Roll‘. The pattern was all about value and the contrast between light and dark shades of colour.

The best thing about the pattern was it used the entire jelly roll from my stash so no scraps to manage. I even used some ‘remaindered’ strips from another jelly roll. I love V and  Co-designed fabric, and this range is ‘Simply Colour’.  I refuse to use the American spelling. The pattern had no frame or border and I added the black and white so the colour would pop and it would ‘manage’ the bias edge.

It was quick as I finished it in about a fortnight. I have pieced another ‘rescue’ mini wall quilt as well! ‘Simply Colour’ is about 60 inches square. I quilted a free motion double hatch on the straight which took about three days in that on an off way when you use a DSM on a larger quilt. And then there’s stitching the binding in the evening.

I do have a UFO that uses some of the same fabric, so I think that will be my next #stayhome project.
