Hello fellow quilters, and welcome to a summary of our August newsletter.
I hope this message finds you all well - and perhaps with a project or two on the go! It’s been wonderful to see so many of you at our recent meetings, sharing your quilts, ideas and stories. Our group is built on friendship, creativity and joy of making and I’m continually inspired by the work you do.
At our last Saturday’s Day Meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Sue Clarke, who gave a wonderful talk about her quilting journey and shared some of her beautiful quilts. Her main message, which she emphasised, was simply to have fun - and not to worry about every little mistake. As Sue reminded us, perfection is overrated; it’s the joy and creativity in quilting that truly matter.
I’m pleased to let you know we’ve booked a guest speaker for our September night meeting. His name is Phong Chi Lai; he is a Melbourne-based designer and maker, specialising in contemporary quilts and soft sculptures through improvisational patchwork. So we hope you can all come along on Wednesday, 24th September.
We’re still looking for volunteers for the exhibition, if you can help, please get in touch.
Don’t forget to bring your show-and-tell quilts to the next meeting. We love seeing what everyone has been working on. A big thank you to everyone who contributes their time and talents - whether it’s setting up the room, teaching a technique or simply sharing a smile. You’re the heart of our quilting group.
