“FOR THE LOVE OF EGYPT FESTIVAL 2017

“The Egyptian Cultural Association of Vic Inc is proud to announce the Khayamiya Appliqué Exhibition with the attendance of Hany Mahmoud Tentmaker of Cairo in conjunction with our For the Love of Egypt 2017 Festival at the Darebin Art Centre Cnr Bell Street and St George’s Road, Preston, on 6th 7th and 8th of October 2017.

 

Hany Mahmoud is an Egyptian artisan who started his career from a very early age, working as a trainee for his family’s business at the street of Khayamiya in Cairo. His career developed from being an assistant artist to an innovative artist when he mastered the appliqué techniques of traditional tent making and could invent a design of his own.

His balanced choices of colours and outstanding needlework are unique and have been recognised by his fellow artisans. His works travelled to the US, UK, Australia, Europe and several Arab countries and are part of private collections in Cairo

The exhibition will be opened as follows

Friday 6th of October 2017

11am to 6pm Tickets for exhibition only $7.50
