Using Margaret Rolfe’s approach…
by EQI Member: Denise S.
Some of you may remember a three-tier jelly roll fabric cake that was a competition at one of our quilt shows. The winner kindly donated it back to us and I promised Barb and Heather recently that I would make something with the strips.
This two-colour, using Margaret Rolfe’s approach, checkerboard quilt top was a lot of fun stitching together. Margaret Mordaunt helped me out by cutting the WOF (width of fabric) into 11-inch strips on our June QFO day. I’ll get some wadding at our next meeting. This will give me time to decide the quilting motif - which almost takes more time than the stitching!
Incidentally, there will probably be another two QFOs from that fabric cake.

This is fabulous Denise, I love the contrast in colours. I recently hand quilted a piece using the Baptist Fan motif. It worked well.
I love it, Denise, the extra bits in the middle just give it a pop. Look forward to seeing it finished
