President’s Piece …..

Christmas greetings to all our EQI members.

It’s hard to imagine that the big day is only three weeks away. Every year when the Melbourne Cup weekend comes around the clocks seem to speed up from then on and in no time it’s Christmas. I hope you all will be able to see as many family members and friends as possible over the holiday period. I can imagine how many hugs there will be, given they were not welcome for such a long time.

We hope those who have had ill health during the year are well on the road to recovery and that 2021 will be a much better year as nothing could be much worse than 2020.

At present we are waiting for clarification from the Masons senior management about the use of the hall. So, tentatively, we are thinking that February day meeting will be the first of the year but this is to be confirmed. Already we have had some inquiries from some of the guest speakers booked for 2020 about bookings for this year. Another tentative suggestion is that we may hold the AGM in March at which time we will be looking for lots of people to offer to be the incoming committee.

I hope you will be able to come to our Picnic in the Park on Wednesday, December 16th. It seems that if we arrive a bit earlier than 11 we will have more opportunity to get settled in a rotunda before any other group comes. Two of us plan to be there between 10 and 10.30. It will be similar to the last picnic in that it will be a byo picnic but we will have some prizes/gifts to get into the Christmas spirit.

To finish- two quotes with ever so slight biblical connections:
To quilt is human - to finish, divine.
Blessed are the Quilters for they shall be called the Piecemakers.
May you all have a wonderful Christmas and an even better New Year.
