Renith’s quilt …

Mysteries in the stash - another one of those I couldn’t resist. Just had to have it, don’t remember why - perhaps it was its cuteness and bright colours. Well, it sat there until being uncovered during the stash tidy-up, but what to do with it!

Aha! Would suit a crib quilt. It was a piece of fabric with mini-panels on it but the spacing between each block was uneven, so that meant cutting away and not using any of the printed frames. Back to the stash to find a fabric bundle in plain bright colours that matched and managed to squeeze enough to frame each block. Got it together, then comes the quilting. Not wanting to dull down the cute creatures using an all-over quilting pattern, decided to do free-motion quilting on this one.

The quilt sat there for quite a while, as the brain ticked over in the background thinking of what threads and patterns to stitch. Thought of an idea, picked a variegated medium weight Signature thread, and drew up a pattern on the ‘Matilda’s Own Aqua Web’ for the block border intersections.

Stitched and cut away the excess webbing.

Next, the quilting pattern inside the frames.

Then into the wash with a colour catcher, with fingers crossed!

And the neighbours brand new nephew has a cot quilt on its way.

Stay safe, keep on stitching.
